Wagner Orchestral Music - Karajan - 2004 Compact Disc

This compact disc is part of the Great Recordings of the Century series by EMI Classics. I think this is a great introduction to the music of Wagner. I am not an expert on Wagner or the best performances of his operas but these six tracks are so absorbing that I find myself returning to them time and time again.

   

10cc - Greatest Hits - 1980s Compact Disc

An excellent compact disc with all the major hits of 10cc. I played the CD as I was putting this post together and listened to it all which is a testament to not only the music but also the mastering on this compact disc. The vinyl copy was part of my parent's music collection and this compact disc brought back memories of rummaging through their collection for music that interested me. I think this compact disc would still elicit the same delightful response in a teenager today. An essential addition to your music collection.

 

Aretha Franklin - Queen of Soul - 1994 Compact Disc

I am not someone who has collected Aretha's individual albums and like most people I know only the hit singles. This 1994 compact disc is a compilation of hits that was mastered by Ted Jensen for a comprehensive boxset of the same name. In forum discussions the boxset generally receives good reviews and for that reason I think this single CD is a good candidate for your collection.
